Welcome to Solomon's Conservative Wisdom

Welcome to my Conservative Blog, Solomon's Conservative Wisdom. The name comes from my middle name and the historical & biblical figure King Solomon, now I make no claim to have Solomon's Wisdom, but I do have Common Sense. I welcome anyone to join in and comment about anything I may have written, posted or one of my Articles / Columns. This blog is dedicated to conservatism and freedom. I invite all conservatives to join in, I don’t mind non-conservatives joining in (after all the only way to change liberals and fence-sitters is to debate them and change their minds, some are just too hard headed to admit they are wrong) . All I expect is a respectful debate.

I have recently split my postings to a few other blogs I own, Solomon's Conservative Wisdom, Solomon's Conservative Wisdom II, and Solomon's Conservative Wisdom at Townhall.com, to spread out some of my postings.
So check them out and tell me what you think.

Please comment on my Articles and Columns, as well as any other post that is not just a link to a story.

I want to know what others think and have a debate. And make sure to check out my Articles and Columns if you haven't already.

So tell everyone you know.

Quote of the Year

Runs until 12/31/2012

"If everyone is thinking alike, then somebody isn't thinking."

General George S. Patton

Quote of the Month

Runs until 11/07/2012

"Battle is the most magnificent competition in which a human being can indulge. It brings out all that is best; it removes all that is base. All men are afraid in battle. The coward is the one who lets his fear overcome his sense of duty. Duty is the essence of manhood."

General George S. Patton

Bonus Quote

"If you’ve got a business – you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen."

President Barack Hussein Obama II

What is True Conservatism?

I realized I haven't properly defined what I believe True Conservatism is and decided to fix that.

(1st). True Conservatism believes in the individual, God did not give us free will for nothing, no matter what your religious believes are the the individual is important. When you take away the individuality away from the people it can and will have negative impacts. Of course morality still applies to the individual. A True Conservative is a person usually rises above his personal self-interest and promotes moral and economic values beneficial to all, rather than to themselves, of course self-interest is still important, business man who lies to the consumer will quickly find themselves out of business.

(2nd). The right of self-defence, this also goes with the 1st, with the individual they must be able to defend themselves, and not overly rely on the government, (I.E. Police Forces), for protection, what these self-defence methods are are up to the people, but it does mean the Right to Bear Arms, (I.E. Guns). You might want to check this previous post.

(3rd). The Economic Engine of the country must not be meddled with by the government, while laws on the issue of fraud and other illegal activities are in place they are not used in an abusive fashion against small businesses, middle sized businesses and, the big corporations, and while monopolies are not necessarily good they do not mean they are completely bad, after all corporations like Wal-Mart, Target, Starbucks, Sears, CVS, Walgreen's and others must have been doing some thing the consumers like to get that big. Also the government it self should get out of businesses it has no business in, after all the Railroad companies were doing fine until the government started telling them how to run their business, this means Amtrak, the post office, and Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac need to be privatised, sold off, or shut down. On a side note government organizations like the FDA need not be shut down but privatised with the government staying out of the way of running it and removing the bureaucratic elements.
This also covers private medical care and retirement plans, which liberals and progressives are now eyeing like a hungry tiger looking at a steak.

(4th). The parental control of education, this means the end of Washington's control over the education system, allowing privet schools to compete with Government Schools for the students and the tax dollars of the students in those classes. In other words if little Johny is in a privet school the tax dollars that would have gone to the Government School instead go to the privet school to pay for Johny's education. Also end the socialism that has been inserted in to the School Curriculum. And end the evolution only teaching in schools.

(5th). The end of the IRS, the abolition of the income tax, and the abolition of all other federal taxes, (with the possible exclusion of Tariffs, limited to 10% of the final consumer price), and replace it with a federal sales tax limited to 23% and would be inclusive and could only be increased with an amendment or a two thirds vote of both houses. This federal sales tax would only cover new goods and only final consumer goods, this would mean businesses would not pay tax for materials to create the final consumer goods.

(6th). The respect of Private Property, and the limitation of Eminent Domain. You might want to check this previous post.

(7th). The end of all useless government programs and the failed social support programs. And the support for the individual to give to the charity(s) of their choice or not to give at all.

(8th). The Support for the true form of our government and that is The Republic style of government that is rule of law not rule of the loudest voice, and restoration of the Constitution's importance to our society. And respect our founding fathers.

(9th). Respect for our military, a strong national defense, secured national borders, enforcement of current laws regarding immigration & no amnesty, and no special government civil service that citizens must work for, for a period of time. Nor bowing to any other government as superiors or a world government.

There are a few more items I could list but for the moment I will let this stand, and make improvements and additions over the next couple of weeks.

Solomon.
